Let the makeover begin......

Wow, I have been gone for way too long!!! Not too much has been going on just taking some time to enjoy life a little ~ I haven't been stitching too much either, think I got a little "burner out" on it, so for now I am enjoying fully being a "housewife" ~heehee

Last March our area got hit w/ some tornados & a ton of large hail......thankfully my town didn't have to deal w/ the tornado, but we did get the bad storms & w/ that had a lot of damage to the house.....well a year later the work has begun to fix it ~

We decided to wait so we could get a trusted local crew, there were sooooo many crews slapping new roofs on houses as fast as they got the insurance money, now they are out of here w/ no way of contacting them!!!

So on Monday our crew showed up & starting ripping of the siding & awning along w/ the roof.....it sure is loud in here & Kyser ( my weimeranier ) doesn't like it,,,he is quite the worrier anyways :)) Poor thing ~

As for the weather, it could not be nicer....for March in western PA, this is better than summer as far as I am concerned.....70's for the next week at least!! Just perfect......

Heading on a " Girls Getaway "........

Can't wait till Sunday morning......My mom, sister, & I are heading out on a mini " Girls Getaway " to near Presque Isle State Park, Lake Erie ~ We haven't been there for well over 20 some years ~ We are packin up leaving the men behind & enjoying 2 days of lounging on the beach & doing some shopping :))) I love searching for beach glass while down at the Outer Banks in NC & hear there is supposed to be some up there too so I am excited!!! It is so pretty & has such a hstory to it ~ Looks beautiful in an old bottle ( like it originally started as :)) displayed in a window for light to shine through ......
It's going to be a HOT one, it's been int he 90's ( or close enough ) for most of July I swear so being in the water is where I belong!! heehee ~

One day an old man was walking down the beach just before dawn. In the distance he saw a young man picking up stranded starfish and throwing them back into the sea. As the old man approached the young man, he asked, 'Why do you spend so much energy doing what seems to be a waste of time?' The young man explained that the stranded starfish would die if left in the morning sun. The old man exclaimed, 'But there must be thousands of starfish. How can your efforts make any difference?' The young man looked down at the starfish in his hand and as he threw it to safety in the sea, he said,' It makes a difference to this one!'

At times in our lives, we are all the old man, the young man, or the starfish. Sometimes, as the old man, we don't see the purpose to actions. Sometimes, as the young man, we persevere and make a difference. And sometimes, we are the starfish who just need a little help."

Rainbows over the Ocean

We just got back from a week @ the beach in OBX , NC ( we stayed in Kitty Hawk in an ocean front home ) , just perfect!!!! I wish I could stay all summer!!!! We always go down over the 4th & this year I got to see my first rainbow over the ocean!! I was soooo excited :)))

The pictures don't show how pretty it was in person, it stayed for close to 20 minutes & kept getting brighter, actually half a double rainbow !! There were dolphins everyday, but the water was freezing!

My Swap Goodies & a visit to the ER

My goodies from Old Lady Morgan ~*~ Thanks so much ~*~

What a week it has been ~~~ I will be happy when this one is OVER :) It started on monday when Jason was outside after work around 4:00 , we had a couple guys over looking @ our roof & while he was outside he got bit by some sort of bee in the back of his neck/head ~ He said it felt like a rock being throw at the back of his head ~ Almost instantly, he started getting a horrible rash all over his body & a reaction like never before. Of course, we still have these people on the roof.....finally they leave...I am panicing!! He took some benedril & thought it would be okay, after seeing he get worse & the chills started he was starting to nearly black out, getting nausious, very scary!! We hurried to the Urgent Care,,,,they listened to his symptoms & took his vitals & ordered him to the ER by ambulance!! What??? They said his blood pressure was very low & they were afraid something may happen while I drove him ( even though it was only 20-25 min away ) & his organs may crash!!! I suddenly began to panic all over again & all I could do was want my parents w/ me! So I went in the other room & called them & asked if they would meet us there! He was treated onthe way & slowly began to improve & stayed @ the hospital for another 6 or 7 hrs. He is now on a couple meds for a few days & we have a Epi pen to carry w/ us in case it happens again as they said next time it could be even worse!!! That is super scary to hear as we are only in our 30's ~ Guess the next step will be is to see an allergist & hope they can offer some help!! I just thank GOD that he is okay now as I now know we should have went right away ~~

Onto some much brighter news :))) I finally got around to getting some pictures of my goodies I received from OLM ( Old Lady Morgan ) http://primitivebyoldladymorgan.blogspot.com/ ~*~ I recently took part in a fun Summer Time Swap hosted By Misi @ 1890 Gable House Musings & OLM was my secret partner :) She was VERY generous & I love everything!! It was like Christmas morning ~ Everything was wrapped so nice & labeled, I wish I would of thought to take a pic first, but I just dug right in !!! I have found a home for all of my treasures & even have plans for my Strawberry Daquiri mix she sent me :) heehee !! Love it ~~

Another hot one.....yuck!

Well...summer is here I am about ready for Fall :) Today is supposed to go up into the 90's again so I will be spendin the day inside & tomorrow I will be headin over to my parents for a day in the pool :) If I am not in water...I hate the hot weather :)
I took part in a fun summer time swap hosted by Misi at 1840 Gable House Goods & received my package from my partner OLM ( Old Lady Morgan ) the other day!! What a treat ~ I love doing swaps....always so much fun to meet new people & trade some goodies!!
I will post pics of what she sent me hopefully tomorrow......she outdid herself :)

We spent the past couple weekends up in the Alleghany Mtns. of PA where my family has had a hunting camp for about 33yrs. now ~ Nice & relaxing, lots of farms & country up there so that means some good yard sales!! Though not as many as we hoped :)
On Memorial day, Jason & I headed do MD to a big auction we used to go to when we lived there, it was sooooo hot ( about 95*) , but we had fun & got some deals so it was worth the sweat !!

Off to grab a little lunch & see what I can get into......

Happy Memorial Day

Wishing you all a wonderful Memorial Day weekend......While enjoying time w/ friends & family please stop & remember the reason for this day!!!

So many men & women have fought & still are fighting for our freedom we always need to keep them in our prayers.....My hubby was in the Navy for 10yrs & now works for the VA, so of course these holidays are always extra meaningful to us :)

It is sure gonna be a hot one here in PA, way too early if you ask me....I am ALMOST ready for some snow to come back....hahaha ~

It is going up to 90,,yuck!! I hope my parents filled up the pool, cause I may be making a visit!!

Been busy hitting some yard sales & auctions, my favorite summer thing to do & need to finish up my summer swap!

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas ~ It was a very nice weekend, an extra layer of snow fell Christmas morning :) , but now I always get sad that it is over. Soon, I will take down all the decoartions & lights that I just love looking at & the house will seem so bare, but believe me it is far from it ~ hee,hee. I just love this whole season......the warmth & closeness you feel I wish would last all year long!!!

This Christmas was more quaint than the past, but extra special all the same as Granny has done very very after having her bypass surgery in late Aug., but now my Pap has a hernia ( his 4th ) & will need surgery as well, it is always something to worry about, they are both in a lot of pain, but every holiday spent w/ them is a blessing :)

Then we traveled a few miles down the road to my Grandma's old house ( she has now passed a few years back & my uncle lives there ), we stayed a short time, just not the same anymore, came back had a few drinks & snacks..played games & went to bed waiting for Santa to come.

Got an early gift just like when we were little he left us new jammies!!! It is an ongoing joke we have & this year my sister & I were kidding we wanted new jammies on Christmas eve & there they were left outside!!! My dad, he is a real kid at heart too, love him so much!!! He picked out the brighest ones he could find my Mom said :)

Woke up Christmas morning to open presents w/ my family then had dinner @ Granny & Pap's then headed home around 6:00 to have our Christmas at our home just Jason & I w/ our dog Kyser too of course he got presents!!!

We hope you day was filled w/ lots of special family memories & a couple great gifts too & of course taking the time to " Remember the Reason for the Season "

It's almost here........

Wow ~

I can't believe it is almost Christmas...it seems like December just flies by ~ I will be spending a good part of the week wrapping gifts, doing a little baking, ( and sampling of course ) , as well as stitching up a couple special little gifts as I always do for a few loved ones :)

On saturday night, we decided to have a "date night" granted there are just the 2 of us & our weimer Kyser, so we go out quite often, but we wanted to go somewhere a little different for dinner & further away so we called & made reservations & the little waitress set us up in our own private dining room!!! It was so sweet, she didn't even know how to light an oil lamp, but she did her best, & it was so nice after the smoke cleared,( hee~hee ) I have included a pic of their "famous" gob cake sundae & it was good......wish I had another bite this morning!!

Well ~ This is what I have been working on today.....love how they turned out :) I just loveJenny @ Country Rustic Primitives patterns....sometimes I feel like buying them all, but I have to budget myself :( I will be back though & soon.....hee,hee

One is stitched on hardanger & the other is aida cloth & each has its own "personality if you will ~ It has been lightly snowing & COLD here for the past week or so, so these little guys feel totally appropriate!!!

Will be making one for my home for sure after the Christmas "rush" slows down a bit ~ If you are interested feel free to contact me ~*~

I have been BUSY.....

I have been living up to my " stitchinthedayaway" name this past week or so that is for sure....... I purchased the new " Home for Christmas" pattern book from Stacy Nash & here is a little sampling of my finished products so far !! Very time consuming, but well worth it :)
It is so dreay & rainy here this week & still too early to decorate the inside of the house for Christmas so I've been busy stitchin.....last weekend we got the outside lights all hung since the weather was so nice, but they won't go on till after Thanksgiving!

Taking this day to proudly remember all those who have served & are currently serving to protect us all & keep us free everyday!!! We are all so thankful & grateful for the sarcrifices ~

My hubby was in the Navy for 10yrs. before deciding to seperate & now is employed w/ the VA hospital ~*~

We'll be spending the day together taking advantage of this "indian summer" & doing some outdoor decorating for Christmas.....I know it is early, but I can't stand doing it when it is freezing & your hands go numb, just not so fun!! I will be tempted to light it up, but will wait till after Thanksgiving.....

Ready for the Weekend :)

Hey everyone ~

I hope you had a nice week,,,,,sure seemed to go pretty quick?? Jason is doing much better, still sore & taking it easy. Defiantly don't want him to think he is healed then reinjuire himself so I have to keep reminding him of that when he tries to push it ~

We are supposed to see a little snow tomorrow.....yep, it is that time of year again!! Only some flurries, but still snow :) I'm alwasy excited to see it flying around out there as long as I don't have to drive in it !!!! Next week it will be back around 56 or so for now......

Here's a pic of a sampler I stitched up over the past couple days......I love it!!! A new pattern from Pineberry Lane .......think I may be keeping this one :)

Long time no see.......

What a week I've had......so much to get into, I won't tell you all the details, but.....my hubby took a tumble down the baesment stairs a little over a week ago breaking 3 ribs & on top of that had the worst case of poison ivy on his arms mostly that I have ever seen & believe me he gets it ALOT , so I have been Nurse Meggs :) It was such a scary night, trip to the ER, he is in a good bit of pain & will be for quite a while we are told, but when I think of what "could have been" I am so thankful that is all he broke!! Those steps are a beast, we have no landing on them, basicaly you push the door open & it swings over the steps & they drop straight down & then there is a metal rail on the side & concrete wall about 2 ft. from the bottom so he is really lucky even though it doesn't seem that way :) Things can almost always be worse ~*~ Till next time....

Well my lip is healing :) Now I am left w/ a splitting ulcer down the center of my lip, but it isn't too noticable if I put on a little lipstitck ......I definatly need to slow down !!!!

Here are a few of my new listings on ebay ( stitchinthedayaway ) ~ Trying to work on a few for Etsy, but can't seem to get caught up, but I guess that is a good thing because everything keeps selling :) Yay!!! ( The top two stitchery's are from patterns of Country Rustic Primitives & the bottom on the candle board is from a pattern by Primitive Stitchin )

Got a fun "girls day" planned on sunday w/ my mom & sister to go to a nice fall festival about 40 miles from here where they dress up like colonial days ~ So we are ready to shop, eat, & gossip like we do best :) And the weather looks like it is gonna be a perfect 70 ' ~ I love fall ~ I hope to snap some pics to post........

Beware of hammers......

You'd think I'd know by now, but no I'm 30 yrs. old & just split my lip open w/ a hammer!! God it hurts......I feel like a little kid, home all along w/ this big pouty lip! No botox needed for me!! I was stupid & taking a square head nail out of my latest projest because I didn't like where I had put it, ( now I wish I would have left it there!!! ) when all I remember is tasting blood! At least I got that nail out....& thankfully I still have all of my teeth in place! Yes, it is that bad! Truth be known I may need stitches, but I am not a fan of doctors. So I am putting ice on my lip & staying clear of hammers for awhile.......while tasting blood all day! No talking for me either & I can't even eat it is split right in the center of by bottom lip ....boy this is a lesson learned!!!
